你的话是我脚前的灯，是我路上的光(诗119：105)。
我藉着你嘴唇的言语自己谨守，不行强暴人的道路。我的脚踏定了你的路径，我的两脚未曾滑跌(诗17：4，5)。你行走，他必引导你；你躺卧，他必保守你；你睡醒，他必与你谈论。因为诫命是灯，法则是光(箴6：22，23)。你或向左、或向右，你必听见后边有声音说：这是正路，要行在其间(赛30：21)。我是世界的光。跟从我的，就不在黑暗里走，必要得着生命的光(约8：12)。我们并有先知更确的预言，如同灯照在暗处。你们在这预言上留意，才是好的(彼后1：19)。我们如今仿佛对着镜子观看，模糊不清，到那时，就要面对面了。我如今所知道的有限，到那时就全知道，如同主知道我一样(林前13：12)。他们不用灯光、日光，因为主神要光照他们，他们要作王，直到永永远远(启22：5)。
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. PSA. 119:105.
By the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. — When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light. — Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. 你这沉睡的人哪，为何这样呢?起来(拿1：6)!
这不是你们安息之所，因为污秽使人毁灭，而且大大毁灭(弥2：10)。你们要思念上面的事，不要思念地上的事(西3：2)。若财宝加增，不要放在心上(诗62：10)。你们应当立定心意，寻求耶和华你们的神，当起来(代上22：18)。你们为什么睡觉呢?起来祷告!免得入了迷惑(路22：46)。你们要谨慎，恐怕因贪食、醉酒，并今生的思虑累住你们的心，那日子就如同网罗忽然临到你们(路21：34)。新郎迟延的时候，她们都打盹、睡着了(太25：5)。因为还有一点点时候，那要来的就来，并不迟延(来10：37)。 现今就是该趁早睡醒的时候，因为我们得救，现今比初信的时候更近了(罗13：11)。
所以你们要警醒，因为你们不知道家主什么时候来，或晚上、或半夜、或鸡叫、或早晨，恐怕他忽然来到，看见你们睡着了(可13：35，36)。
What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise. JON. 1:6.
This is not your rest: … it is polluted, it shall destroy you. — Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. — If riches increase, set not your heart upon them. — Set your heart and your soul to seek your God: arise therefore. Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. — Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. — Yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. — Now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. — Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: lest coming suddenly he finds you sleeping.
